Domestic engineered stone prohibition
Australia's domestic prohibition on defined engineered-stone benchtops, panels and slabs began July 1, 2024, covering manufacture, supply, processing and installation. Limited exceptions and controls apply to permitted legacy work; available transitional-contract periods ended in 2024.
Products outside the engineered-stone definition can still present silica risks and remain subject to general duties. Local exceptions and legacy-work requirements need review.
